DAME BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Mr. Lanre Idowu is CEO Diamond Publications Ltd. and editor-in-chief of Media Review since 1991. He holds a Bachelors degree in History from the University of Lagos, Akoka (1979) and a Masters in Public Communication from Fordham University, New York (1982). He has worked with such titles as the Daily Times in 1982 as as a staff writer, The Guardian in 1983 as a reporter, The Democrat 1984-85 as an assistant editor, the United States Information Service as a media consultant from 1985-86. He joined This week magazine in 1986 as an associate editor, rose to become its editor in 1987 and deputy editor-in-chief in 1989. He was CEO of Richard Munds Ltd. 1989-91 before joining Diamond Publications. He is quite active on the media education circuit as a participant and resource person. He is Author of The Popular is seldom Correct and Bridges of Memory (2009), editor of Voices from Within: Essays in honour of Sam Amuka, 20015 & 2005, Watching the Watchdogs: Media Review at 20, 2011; Nigerian Columnists and their Art (2011), The Editor and the State (2013), Diamonds are Forever: The story of DAME at Ten, 2001. He also co-edited with Tunji Oseni, Hosting 140th Anniversary of the Nigerian Press, 2000, Tosen Consult.
Mr. Moses Ihonde, Author, diplomat and industrialist. A past President of the Nigeria-American Chamber of Commerce, he served as consul general at Nigeria’s Consulate in Atlanta, Georgia in the 80s. Mr. Ihonde was a high school teacher before joining public service. He was an Information officer with the federal ministry of Information and served as chief press secretary to former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon in the 70s. His insights into the workings of that government provided ample material for his work, FIRST CALL: Analysis of the Gowon Years, Diamond Publications, 2004. He has worked as a diplomat in various countries. He sits on the board of various companies spanning diverse interests as banking, manufacturing and trading.

Mr. Olu Ajomale is a chartered accountant; and for many years an active member of the Jaycees International. He has worked at Mobil and Ashland (now Addax) oil companies. He is a well sought trainer.

Kabiru Yusuf,  is a respected name in the media. A former University lecturer,he has been Editor, Daily Triumph, Today and Citizen Magazine and Correspondent of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). He holds  respectively bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Political Economy from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and University of Toronto, Canada. Kabiru was Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Media Trust newspapers for many years before his current appointment as the Chairman and Chief Executive officer. He is also the deputy president of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria.

Dr. Hassan Adamu, CON, Wakilin Adamawa, has a long association with DAME from his days as president of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria. Since then he has served Nigeria as Ambassador to the United States, as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and of the Environment.
